HATS!Here are sketches of "V" from V for Vendetta and, for no reason, an Old-Timey Villain. But look at them! They sure love their hats! Other interests they share include cloaks, mustaches, smooth jazz and blowing things up with dynamite. And kids, never trust anyone that likes smooth jazz.

MOCCA!

Hey everyone! This weekend, I will once again be attending one of my favorite comic art shows around: the MOCCA Art Festival! This year, due to it's continuing expansion, it will be held at the 69th Regiment Armory at Lexington Avenue and 25th Street in New York City. I will be there, along with my wife Erin Gallagher and our friend Brad Johansen selling prints, mini-comics, books, buttons and other cool items. So stop on by to say hi. The entire show is filled with super-talented people with great items for sale, so you'd be crazy to miss it. Check out the full list of contributors here.
Hope to see you there!

HELLO BLOG...

...long time no see.

Hey everyone! So it's been a little while since my last post, but, despite my lack of presence on the old interweb here, I have been keeping busy. And one of the things I have been keeping busy with is drawing sketch cards for the JLA/ Rittenhouse Archives' Card Sets. Here's the item from the May issue of Previews:

The sketch cards are all original, hand drawn pieces that are inserted into each pack (one per pack) and every artist that worked on this project had to complete 200 cards. It was definitely a big project but it was really a lot of fun and I would love to do more of these. I'm not allowed to post any of my images until the cards are released, which will be sometime in July, but I will post them up here as soon as I get the OK. So, keep an eye out for when the cards finally hit the stores and, if you are so inclined, grab a pack; maybe you'll get a set that has one of my cards inside! Stay tuned!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Here's the X-mas card I made for my friends and family this year. It's the painted version of the drawing I did for them last year plus an additional image for the back of the card, which was drawn by me and painted by my wife, Erin Gallagher. Hope everyone had a great holiday and has a fantastic New Year!

WEDDING FAVORS

My friend, writer Matthew K. Manning, was one of the million people I know (including myself) who tied the knot this year. For a wedding favor, he gave each guest a comic that told the story of how he and his wife met and the events that led up to their proposal and marriage. He wrote the script, then "commissioned" his artist friends to each draw a page. Since we've been good friends for so long, of course we all said "yes". But mainly it was because he had some kind of dirt on all of us that he threatened to expose if we said "no" (I still don't know how he found out where I buried those bodies).

The above image is of the pencils and inks I turned in. It was then colored by our friend Rob Donnelly and lettered by our other friend Cory Petit. I've never worked this way before, so it was very cool to see other people finish the piece and create the final product. The whole thing turned out great and it was a lot of fun to be a part of. You can check out the rest of the book, along with the other great artists that worked on it, at Matt's own blog: http://matthewkmanning.blogspot.com/

LEGION OF SUPERHEROES

These were done for a Legion of Superheroes jam piece with some friends of mine. The girl character is called "Princess Projectra" and the dude is called "Sunboy". Yeah, I don't know who they are either.
